PAPERS

The main theme of CPT'10 is the solution of geotechnical and geo-environmental problems using the CPT, with particular emphasis on practical experience and application of research results.

Abstracts have been submitted under one of the three main themes:

1.) Equipment, Testing and Procedures

Any aspect regarding CPT equipment, testing and procedures including standards, new equipment, testing techniques and procedures, innovative aspects including T-bar testing, and other modules used in geo-environmental screening.

2.) Interpretation of Test Results

Any aspect of interpretation from theoretical to empirical, including case histories involving interpretation.

3.) Solution of Practical Problems

Any aspect of applications of CPT results, including shallow and deep foundations, embankments, slopes, and seismic design. Geo-environmental solutions include identification of contaminated soil and/or groundwater, evaluation of groundwater flow etc.

SUBMISSIONS:

All final papers have been submitted at this time. Over 120 papers from 35 countries have been accepted as well as nine regional reports describing how CPT is used around the world.

All papers will be made available on-line prior to the conference to all registered attendees. This is designed to allow attendees to read any papers of interest and come prepared for discussion sessions or to speak with authors during the poster presentation.

POSTER SESSION:

If your paper has been accepted for CPT'10 and you wish to present it during our poster session on Tuesday, May 11, 2010 between 3-5pm, please notify the conference organizers and follow the poster directions below.

Poster Requirements:

  • Include paper title, all author's names and affiliations.

  • Poster size is limited to no larger than 110cm high (44in) by 172cm long (69in).

  • Presenter/author should stand near poster to answer questions from other conference particiapnts.

Poster Guidelines:

  • Posters should mount easily to a bulletin board using small push pins.

  • Paper can be laminated or matte finish.

  • Font should be large (20pt min.) and visable from 2-3m away.

  • Text should be uncluttered and legible (eg. a san serif font such as Helvetica).

  • Poster should have a good balance between text and graphics.

  • Consider using tables, graphs and bullet points to increase clarity and quality of information.

  • Eye movement is natural (down columns, along rows or guided by arrows or numbers).

  • May use color but avoid light colors with limited visability (yellow, pale colors).

Authors wishing to present their poster must set-up their own poster session on Tuesday May 11, 2010 before 3pm. The poster session will be held in the Mariners Ballroom and volunteers will aid with set-up. Posters will be arranged by session and conference participants will be provided with refreshments (wine, cheese, appetizers).
